About The Ocean Beach Rec Program
The Ocean Beach Recreation Program is a collaboration between Ocean Beach Youth Group, the Village of Ocean Beach and the Ocean Beach Community Fund.
Since OB Rec’s launch in 2022, we have brought pickleball courts to the Woodhull School outdoor basketball courts, installed a beach volleyball net near the Surfview entrance, hosted an evening teen program called Teenswept and produced events big and small such as book club, canasta, Cake Wars, Scavenger Scramble and a sold-out comedy performance.

OB Rec is also pleased to offer a free app for easy access to all information and registration links.

App users can join interest groups such as canasta book club, pickleball and fitness to connect with like-minded Fire Islanders. They can easily access weekly schedules and can be alerted to last-minute changes.

Pickleball
Temporary courts and lines are set up at designated times on the basketball courts behind Woodhull School on Surf Road. Paddles and balls available for us or bring your own. See Windswept Go for the most updated information.
Teenswept
Windswept, on the corner of Bay Avenue and Ocean Road, transforms into a teen haven in the evenings, full of video games, ping pong, snacks and more. See Windswept Go for the most updated information.
Events
OB Rec hosts a variety of events such as Cake Wars, a village-wide Scavenger Hunt, Cornhole Tournament, Bingo, and sold out Comedy Shows. Download Windswept Go to stay in the know, reserve your spot or buy tickets.
Volleyball
You can find the volleyball net and balls when you use the beach entrance at Surf View. Start your own game or join in an existing one!
Adult Ed
Learn from our local artist to create mosaics, resin, candle-making and more or join the book club for monthly discussions about specially selected books.
Basketball
Two high-end portable Spalding basketball hoops are rolled out to center court every evening for anyone to enjoy.
